Have to and must

I have to do something = it is necessary to do it, I am obliged to do it.
해야할 필요가 있다, 그래서 나는 할 의무가 있다.

You can't turn right here. You have to turn left.
당신은 우측으로 돌 수 없다. 너는 왼쪽으로 돌아야해.
I have to wear glasses for reading.
나는 읽기위해선 안경을 써야해.
Robert can't come out with us this evening. He has to work late.
로버트는 이번저녁에 우리와 함께 올 수 없다. 그는 늦게 일을 해야해.
Last week Tina broke her arm and had to go to hospital.
지난 주 티나는 그녀의 팔이 골절되어 병원에 있어야 했다.
I haven't had to go to the doctor for ages.
나는 몇년동안 그 의사에게 가지 않았다.

We use do / does / did in questions and negative sentences.

What do I have to do to get a new driving licence? (not What have I to do?)
새 운전면허증을 받으려면 내가 무엇을 해야하나요?
Karen doesn't have to work Saturdays. (not What have I to do?)
카렌은 토요일날 일을 할 수 없다.
Why did you have to leave early?
왜 일찍 떠날 수 밖에 없었니?

You can say I'll have to ... , I'm going to have to ... and I might / may have to ...

They can't fix my computer,
so I'll have to buy a new one. or I'm going to have to buy a new one.
그들은 내 컴퓨터를 고칠 수 없다. 그래서
나는 새것을 살 것이다. / 나는 새것을 살 수밖에 없다.
Tom might have to work late tomorrow. or Tom may have to work ...
(= it's possible that he will have to)
톰은 내일 늦게까지 일을 할 수밖에 없을것 같다.

Must is similar to have to

You can use must or have to to give your own opinion.
너는 너의 의견을 줄때 다음을 사용한다.

(for example,
to say what think is necessary, or to recommend someone to do something)
(예를들면 필요한 것이라던지, 누군가에게 할것을 추천한다던지)

I haven't spoken to Sue for ages.
나는 그녀와 몇년동안 말해보지 못했다.
I must phone her. / I have to phone her. (= I say this is necessary)
나는 그녀에게 말해야해.
Mark is a really nice person.
마크는 정말 좋은 사람이야.
You must meet him. / You have to meet him. (= I recommend this)
너는 그를 만나봐야해.

We use have to (not usually must) to say what someone is obliged to do.
우리는 have to (must는 보통 사용x)를 누군가가 해야할 것에 대하여 말할때 사용.

The speaker is not giving his / her own opinion.
그 화자는 상대방의 의중을 묻지 않는다.

I have to work from 8.30 to 5.30 every day. (a fact, not an opinion)
나는 매일 8.30에서 5.30 일을 해야 한다.
Jane has to travel a lot for her work.
제인은 그녀의 일을 위하여 많은 여행을 해야한다.

But must is used in written rules and instructions.
하지만 must는 규칙또는 메뉴얼을 적을때 사용된다.

Applications for the job must be received by 18 May.
지원은 5월 18일까지 해야한다.
(exam instruction) Answer all the questions. You must write your answers in ink.
(시험 지문) 모든 질문에 답하세요. 너는 잉크로 답을 적어야 한다.

You cannot use must to talk about the past.
must는 과거에 사용할 수 없다.

We didn't have much time. We had to hurry. (not we must hurry)
우리는 시간이 없었다. 우리는 서둘러야 했다.

Mustn't and don't have to are completely different.
mustn't 과 have to는 아주 다르다.

Compare

You mustn't do something = it is necessary that you do not do it. (so don't do it)
당신은 이것을 하면 안된다.

You must keep this a secret. You mustn't tell anyone. (= don't tell anyone)
너는 이 약속을 지켜야한다. 누구에게도 말하지 마.
I promised I would be on time. I mustn't be late. (= I must be on time)
나는 정시에 올거라 약속해. 나는 늦지 않는다.

You don't have to do something = you don't need to do it. (but you can if you want)
당신을 이것을 할 필요가 없다.

You don't have to tell Tom what happened. I can tell him myself.
너는 톰에게 무슨일이 일어났었는지 말할 필요없다. 내가 그에게 직접 말할 수 있어.
I don't have to be at the meeting, but I think I'll go anyway.
나는 그 미팅에 갈 필요없어, 하지만 어쨋든 내생각에는 갈거같아.

You can use have got to instead of have to. So you can say
