Present simple (I do)

We use the present simple to talk about things in general.
We use it to say that something happens all the time or repeatedly,
or that something is true in general.
항상 벌어지는 일, 반복되는 일, 그리고 진리라고 생각되는 일을 표현할때 사용.

• Nurses look after patients in hospitals.
  간호사들은 병원에서 환자를 돌본다.
• I usually go away at weekends.
  나는 보통 주말에 나간다.
• The earth goes round the sun.
  지구는 태양을 돈다.
• The cafe opens at 7.30 in the morning.
  그 카페는 아침 7.30에 연다.
• I come from Canada. Where do you come from?
  저는 캐나다에서 왔습니다. 어디에서 오셨나요?
• I don't go away very often.
  나는 자주 나가지 않습니다.
• What does this word mean? (not What means this word?)
  이 단어의 의미는 무엇인가요?
• Rice doesn't grow in cold climates.
  쌀은 추운기후에서는 자라지 않습니다.

직업에 대한 표현

예문) 해석참고용

• He drives a bus. (=He is a bus driver)
  그는 버스 운전사입니다.
• What do you do? (=What is your job?)
  무슨일을 하니?

We use the present simple to say how often we do things. 
얼마나 반복적으로 하는지에 대하여 사용한다.

• I get up at 8 o'clock every morning.
  나는 매일아침 8시에 일어난다.
• How often do you go to the dentist?
  당신은 치과에 얼마나 가나요?
• Julie doesn't drink tea very often.
  줄리는 차를 자주 마시지 않습니다.
• Robert usually goes away two or three times a year.
  로버트는 1년에 보통 2~3번 나갑니다.

I promise / I apologise etc.
Sometimes we do things by saying something.
For example, 
when you promise to do something, you can say "I promise ..."
when you suggest something, you can say "I suggest ..."
In the same way we say:
I apologise ... / I advise ... / I insist ... / I agree ... / I refuse ... etc.

예문) 해석 참고용

• I promise I won't be late. (not I'm promising)
  다시 안 늦는다고 약속할게.
• What do you suggest I do? I suggest that you ...
  나에게 무엇을 제안하려고? 나는 너에게 ...을 제안한다.

미래의 의미로서의 단순 현재
교통 시간표 또는 영화시간표 같은 공식적인 시간표 및 일정에 사용.

• My train leaves at 11.30, So I need to be at the station by 11.15
  내 기차는 11.30분에 떠날꺼야, 그러니 나는 역에 11.15까지 갈 필요가 있어.
• What time does the film start this evening?
  오늘 저녁에 그 영화는 몇시에 시작해?
